Barack Obama had heard of Snooki
But when asked whether the star of the MTV reality show should run for mayor
of Wasilla, he replied: “I don’t know who Snooki is.”
However, he has joked about the diminuitive star in the past. At the White
House Correspondents Association Dinner in May, he used Snooki’s name in a
joke about the new healthcare bill.
Mr Obama said that Snooki, along with other members of Jersey Shore, famous
for their orange appearance, would be exempt from the tanning bed tax.
Snooki, real name Nicole Polizzi, 22, is the breakout star from the MTV
series. On Friday night she was arrested for disorderly conduct while
filming the hit show.
In response to Mr Obama’s performance on The View, Snooki wrote on her Twitter
account: “President Obama… love to tan in the rose garden … I’ll
teach you how to fist pump!”
During the interview, Mr Obama discussed his BlackBerry, which said was no
longer “fun”, as only 10 people had his email address and sent
formal messages.
He also disclosed the contents of his iPod, ranging from Jay-Z, to Frank
Sinatra and opera star Maria Callas.
The president said he had no tracks by teen popstar Justin Bieber, but did
once meet the singer when he performed at the White House.
